Redbox has announced its top movie and video game rentals for 2014.

“The last week of December marked the highest rental week in Redbox history, led by one of the top titles of 2014, ‘The Equalizer,’” said Mark Horak, president of Redbox.

The award-winning thriller “Captain Phillips,” starring Tom Hanks, performed the best across Redbox’s 36,000 locations, followed by “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “22 Jump Street.” Overall, the results show a preference among Redbox customers for comedies. Also popular in 2014 were action movies based on dystopian young-adult novels.

On the gaming side, first-person shooter “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” was the most rented game of 2014; “Destiny” (#2) and “Call of Duty: Ghosts” (#3) rounded out the top three.
