The Bears continued to hand out one-year contracts Wednesday, re-signing cornerback and special teams stalwart Sherrick McManis.

The Peoria native played the last three seasons with the Bears, totaling 38 special teams tackles — the most for any franchise player during that span — as well as one pass breakup and two fumble recoveries. He served as a captain twice last season during the Bears’ season-long game-by-game rotation.

The 27-year-old Northwestern alum  is the 10th player the Bears have signed to a one-year deal in the last two weeks, including former Cardinals linebacker Sam Acho, who the team inked earlier Wednesday.

He’s the second cornerback signed in the last five days; the team signed vet Alan Ball on Friday.
