A midweek diversion from the conference schedule gave Crystal Lake South an opportunity to take risks and “work on some little things,” coach Brian Bogda said. Hosting Johnsburg Wednesday afternoon, the Gators were aggressive on the basepaths and sent a first-time starter to the mound.

The Gators offense clubbed 17 hits and sophomore starting pitcher Andrew Engelking only allowed one to the Skyhawks as Crystal Lake South beat Johnsburg, 15-1, in five innings.
