A man took himself to a hospital early Monday after he was shot during an attempted robbery near Jackson Park on the South Side.

The 23-year-old was walking in the 6700 block of South Jeffery at 3:45 a.m. when two males walked up, announced a robbery and shot him, police said. Preliminary information does not indicate anything was stolen, police said.

The victim walked into St. Bernard Hospital at 3:45 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the left leg. He was in fair condition, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
