A woman was found dead, the victim of a hit-and-run accident early Wednesday in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

A driver spotted the woman’s body lying on the north side of Central Road just east of River Road at 3:55 a.m., according to a statement from Des Plaines police.

The 31-year-old woman was apparently walking east on Central when she was struck by a vehicle also heading east, according to police.

Police do not have information about the vehicle that struck her.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but the woman’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
