An Oklahoma man has been charged with strangling a man nearly 16 years ago in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Santos Crespo, 40, faces a first-degree murder charge for the July 22, 1999 attack that left a 37-year-old man dead in the 2900 block of North Lowell, according to Chicago Police.

A warrant was put out for Crespo’s arrest on March 10 and he was arrested at his Tulsa home later that month, Cook County court records show.

Judge Peggy Chiampas ordered Crespo held without bond on Saturday, court records show. He is next due in court Monday, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
