Detectives were questioning a suspect early Wednesday after a woman was shot in the head in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 3700 block of South Wolcott saw a vehicle speeding away from the area and a pursuit ensued, police said.

A woman, whose exact age was not known, had been shot in the head in the 3600 block of South Honore, police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, were her condition was stabilized.

The vehicle sped into the outbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) and Chicago Police chased it until the vehicle crashed at the I-294 northbound ramp near Hodgkins, police said.

As of early Wednesday, Area Central detectives were questioning a male suspect who was involved in the crash, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
