Two violent robberies have been reported in the last week in the South Side Hyde Park neighborhood.

Two suspects walked up to victims, threatened them with violence and took their property, according to a community alert issued Thursday by Area Central detectives.

The robberies happened at 10:24 p.m. Saturday in the 5700 block of South Harper and at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 5800 block of South Harper, police said.

One of the suspects wore a black ski mask, and both suspects wore black hooded sweat shirts and blue jeans, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
