Man killed in Summit shooting

A man was shot to death in southwest suburban Summit on Saturday.

Dakota Smith, 21, was shot in the chest in the 5300 block of South 74th Avenue, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:13 a.m.

Smith lived in the 6000 block of South Archer, also in Summit.

An autopsy performed Sunday ruled his death a homicide. A representative for Summit police could not be reached Sunday afternoon to comment.
