A 34-year-old woman was killed and two women injured in a Gresham neighborhood shooting late Tuesday on the South Side.

The three were among a group of people fighting on the street about 11:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Stewart, police said. A gunman ran by and fired into the crowd before taking off in a white SUV, police said.

Lucille T. Barnes of the 7500 block of South Eggleston was shot in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she died at 12:49 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A 22-year-old woman shot in the leg and wrist, and a 25-year-old woman shot in the arm also went to Stroger. Their conditions stabilized, police said.

Minutes later, a woman, a boy and a girl—both 14—were shot near 80th and Stewart, police said.
