Two Gary brothers who were found shot to death Friday in a wooded area of northwest Indiana had been reported missing by their mother days earlier.

Antonio D. Lackey, 16, and 18-year-old Arreon T. Lackey were found shot to death in the 7000 block of Grand Avenue in Hobart about 4:50 p.m. Friday, according to a statement from Lake County coroner’s office. They lived in the 4400 block of Ryan Court in Gary.

Both deaths were ruled homicides, according to the coroner’s office.

The brothers were reported missing to the Merrillville Police Department by their mother on Monday, according to a statement from the Northwest Indiana Major Crimes Task Force.

Police were “actively investigating their whereabouts at the time their bodies were discovered,” according to the statement. They were listed as missing in the National Crime Information Center law enforcement database.
