BOURBONNAIS — Saying the team’s first-round pick was close to “day-to-day,” Bears coach John Fox maintained Wednesday that he wasn’t concerned about Kevin White’s long-term health. The wide receiver was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list with a shin injury.

“It’s not a long-term problem,” Fox said at Olivet Nazarene University. “Like any injury — a blister could become a long-term problem if you don’t treat it right. We’re just trying to do the proper treatment and do what’s in his best interest, whatever his best interest is is our best interest.”

White refused to detail his specific injury, other than to say it was in a shin. White spent most of his time during the team’s first training camp practice on the sideline.

“I could say exactly what it is, but I’m not,” Fox said. “It’s his shin. It’s something that shouldn’t be long-term but that we’re going to monitor.”

GM Ryan Pace said Tuesday the Bears wanted to monitor the receiver’s cardiovascular work while he works his way.
