A man was shot during an attempted robbery in the Washington Heights neighborhood early Monday on the Far South Side.

About 2:25 a.m., the 23-year-old was in a vehicle stopped at a red light near 100th and Halsted when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside announced a robbery, police said.

The person then pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking the man twice in the left arm, police said.

The man then drove himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.
