An Evanston man was convicted Wednesday of sexually assaulting a child younger than 13 years old multiple times over a three-year period.

Baraka A. Olla, 40, was found guilty Wednesday of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a statement from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said Olla sexually assaulted and sexually abused the victim, a child under the age of 13, multiple times between the summer of 2011 and early 2014. Olla knew the victim, and the assaults occurred at the victim’s Elgin home.

Olla, of the 1300 block of Washington Street in Evanston, is facing a sentence of between six and 37 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to the state’s attorney’s office. His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 16 to set dates for motion and sentencing hearings.
