White Sox announce 2016 player development staff

The White Sox promoted Julio Vinas to manage their AAA affiliate Charlotte Knights on Tuesday. Vinas, 42, replaces Joel Skinner, who will manage Class A Winston-Salem.

Vinas moves up from AA Birmingham. Ryan Newman will manage at Birmingham after serving as an assistant coach with Charlotte from 2014-15.

Willie Harris, who scored the game-winning run in Game 4 of the 2005 World Series won by the Sox, will begin his coaching career as hitting coach at Advanced Rookie Great Falls. Former Sox outfielder Aaron Rowand, a 2005 teammate of Harris, was previously announced as the new outfield and baserunning coordinator.

Nick Capra enters his fifth season as director of player development. Kirk Champion begins his fifth consecutive season as field coordinator.
