A missing 82-year-old man from DeKalb County, last seen in Iowa, was found dead Friday in Nebraska.

Marvin Davis left his home in the 2200 block of Lee Road in Shabbona on Monday in a maroon 2010 Ford Ranger, according to an alert from state police. He suffered from early onset dementia.

Davis stayed at the Hilton Garden in Sioux City, Iowa, on Monday night after being stopped by police for multiple traffic violations. He checked out at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and called his grandson to say he was almost to Washington to reunite with his girlfriend.

On Friday, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska found Davis and his pickup truck “in a remote area of their county,” according to a statement from the DeKalb County sheriff’s office.

The manner of death is under investigation, but “it does not appear to be suspicious,” according to the statement.
