A man was shot during an attempted robbery early Sunday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 27-year-old was walking in the 5400 block of South Aberdeen about 12:20 a.m. when an armed male walked up and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police.

The man pushed the gun away and the would-be robber opened fire, shooting the man in the thigh, police said.

He took himself to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
