A Chicago woman was arrested for driving drunk early Sunday in west suburban Riverside.
At 1:17 a.m., police spotted a 2010 Ford Carryall driving south on Harlem Avenue without any headlights on, according to a statement from Riverside Police Chief Tom Weitzel.
After several attempts, police were able to stop 35-year-old Ladon P. Whitehead’s vehicle at the intersection of Pershing Road and Ogden Avenue.
Whitehead provided the officer with a Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation work badge with the name Landon Williams, insisting that it was her driver’s license, police said. She gave them the name of Landon Williams and a date of birth that showed no current driver’s license on file.
After failing a roadside sobriety test, Whitehead said she had been at a strip club all night and drinking, police said. She was then taken into custody.
The officer determined Whitehead’s license had been revoked for two prior DUI convictions dating back to 2000, police said. She told the officer, “Thank you for saving my life tonight as I have a drinking problem and it is time for me to change.”
Whitehead, of the 11100 block of South Parnell, was charged with aggravated drunk driving, driving with a revoked license, driving with no headlights, illegal lane usage and no vehicle insurance, police said.
