Man killed in East Side shooting

A 22-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday afternoon in the East Side neighborhood.

Luis Romero was outside in the 9400 block of South Ewing about 4:45 p.m. when he heard shots and realized he’d been hit in the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Romero, of the 10300 block of South Avenue L, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m., authorities said.

Police said the shooting likely was gang-related.
