Bears coach John Fox said that cornerback Kyle Fuller is close to being activated from injured reserve. It’s a move that could happen early next week.
Fuller was put IR on Sept. 27 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee during the preseason. He was eligible to return against the Titans, but he spent this week working out with trainers and apart from the team.
“I’d say that this week he had his best week of a non-practice week,” Fox said Friday. “They’re doing a lot of stuff; it’s just not practicing football. There’s movement skills and things they’re doing, strengthening skills they’re doing with the trainers and the strength people.
“I’d be pretty surprised depending on how it goes after [Friday] because he had a pretty brisk workout [Friday], if he’s not practicing Monday.”
Once Fuller is activated the season officially ends for receiver Kevin White, who was put on IR on Oct. 5. White, though, isn’t close to returning. He underwent surgery to repair a spiral fracture in his left fibula.
Doubting Jay
The Bears officially listed quarterback Jay Cutler (right shoulder) as doubtful. Cutler did not practice in any capacity this week.
Matt Barkley is set to make his first regular-season start.
“We really haven’t seen [Barkley] in this role in our offense as a starter with a full week of preparation, so there’s always a little bit of uncertainty,” offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said. “But we’re very confident that he’s going to go out and perform well.”
In and out
Defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (ankle), right tackle Bobby Massie (concussion) and cornerback Cra’Von LeBlanc (concussion) will play against the Titans. They had full participation in practice on Friday.
Left guard Josh Sitton (ankle) is doubtful, while outside linebacker Leonard Floyd (concussion) was ruled out. Neither player practiced this week.
Receiver Eddie Royal (toe), defensive tackle Mitch Unrein (back), linebacker Christian Jones (back/ankle) and cornerback Deiondre’ Hall (ankle) are questionable.
