A Chicago Police bike officer was struck by a car early Thursday in the Buena Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The officer was traveling west in the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road when a 2008 Infiniti side-swiped his bike, according to police.

The officer suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 25-year-old man, was cited for failure to reduce speed, police said.
