Eight people were hurt when a car rear-ended a CTA bus in Brighton Park Sunday evening on the Southwest Side, authorities said.

The bus was heading south on Western Avenue when a car with its headlights off crashed into the back of the bus about 5:30 p.m., a CTA spokesman said.

Eight people were taken to hospitals in fair-to-serious condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The bus driver was among those hurt, and the CTA said the injuries were considered minor.

Chicago Police did not immediately provide more details.
