Two armed robberies involving similar circumstances have been reported in the South Shore neighborhood.

In each robbery, a man begins asking someone questions and then implies he is armed or pulls out a gun and threatens to shoot the person, according to a community alert from police. Police did not say when or specifically where the robberies occurred.

The robber is described as a black man, 18-20 years of age, standing 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 with dreads or braids, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
