A woman was fatally struck by a car Sunday night in west suburban Glendale Heights.

A 2015 Volkswagen Passat driven by a 50-year-old Wheaton resident was southbound in the curb lane of Glen Ellyn Road near Lynn Court about 8:25 p.m. when it struck 59-year-old Jesus Cruz, according to a statement from Glendale Heights police.

Witnesses said Cruz may have been trying to cross Glen Ellyn Road when she was struck, police said.

Cruz, who lived in Glendale Heights, was taken to Adventist Glen Oaks Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Glendale Heights accident investigators and evidence technicians were investigating the crash with the DuPage County sheriff’s office. Anyone with information should call (630) 260-6070.
