Teen boy shot in South Chicago

A teen boy was shot in the South Chicago neighborhood Monday afternoon.

The 16-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 8700 block of South Escanaba about 4:55 p.m. when another male walked out of a gangway and shot him in the leg, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
