A man was critically wounded in Belmont Cragin neighborhood shooting early Monday on the Northwest Side.

About 2 a.m., the 38-year-old was sitting in a parked vehicle in an alley in the 3000 block of North Kilpatrick when a male exited from a black SUV nearby and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the back of the head and left shoulder and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
