A man was shot in seriously wounded Friday evening in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The man, 26, was shot multiple times in the chest about 7 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Lowe, police said.

He was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

About the same time 10 blocks away, another man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Englewood.

The 59-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 5700 block of South May about 7 p.m. when a black vehicle drove by and someone inside opened fire, police said. He was shot three times in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Police could not immediately say whether the shootings were related.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
