Charges are pending against the man who police say shot and killed a 58-year-old man in northwest Indiana early Saturday.

About 1:30 a.m., George Blackmon Jr. got into a fight with someone he knew on the block where he lived in the 1600 block of West 10th Place in Gary, according to Gary police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Blackmon Jr. was taken to Methodists Hospitals in Gary, where he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m., authorities said.

Lake County sheriff’s police tracked down the alleged shooter later Saturday morning in White County Indiana, Gary police said. He remained in custody with charges pending Sunday afternon.
