A man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side early Friday morning.

The 27-year-old was shot at 3:17 a.m. in the 4800 block of West Arthington, according to Chicago Police. The man was sitting in his car when two males got out of a vehicle. One pulled out a gun, and they announced a robbery. When the man tried to pull away, one of them fired shots.

The man was struck in the neck, shoulder and back, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
