Woman shot to death in Joliet

A 34-year-old woman was shot to death late Friday in southwest suburban Joliet.

The woman was sitting on the porch of a home with several other people in the 500 block South Joliet Street about 11:45 p.m. when shots rang out, according to Joliet police and the Will County coroner’s office.

Everyone else ran inside the home, but Sequita M. Walsh was shot once in the back. She was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where she died at 12:48 a.m. Saturday, according to police and the coroner’s office.

Police said it was not known if Walsh was the intended target of the shooting.
