2 shot to death in Englewood

Two men were shot to death Tuesday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, and both have now been identified.

Officers responding about 10:50 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 6000 block of South Carpenter found one man lying in the street and another man unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a gray car, according to Chicago Police.

Both men had been shot in the head, and both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

One of the men was identified as 34-year-old Rodney Wayne Phillips Orr of the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The second man was identified Friday as Daniel Watkins, 28, of the 7800 block of South Eberhart, according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
