Two people were shot while they were in a vehicle early Tuesday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 30-year-old woman and man, thought to be between 18 and 25 years old, were in a vehicle stopped at a stop sign about 3:05 a.m. in the 800 block of North Lavergne when gunfire erupted and they were both struck in the back, according to Chicago Police.

They both later showed up at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where the man refused medical treatment, police said. The woman was listed in critical condition and transferred to Stroger Hospital.
