A gas leak has prompted an evacuation Wednesday afternoon in south suburban Harvey.

A gas line broke at East 155th Street and Turlington Avenue about noon, city spokesman Sean Howard said.

The areas east and west of the intersection have been evacuated, including the public library, Howard said.

No injuries have been reported.

The city is using a church at 155th and Lexington as a staging area, and distributing water to residents.
