An 11-year-old boy was injured when his bicycle was hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon in west suburban Oak Park.

The boy was riding the bike across the 1000 block of South Ridgeland Avenue from between parked cars when a northbound vehicle struck the bike’s rear wheel, according to a statement from Oak Park police. The boy was thrown from the bicycle.

He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood to be checked out, police said.
