A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood Sunday.

Sherman Hammons, Jr., 35, was driving a motorcycle east through the intersection of 79th and Drexel a short time after 7 p.m. Sunday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A woman driving another vehicle was making a northbound turn onto Drexel when Hammons struck her vehicle, authorities said.

Hammons, of the 7600 block of South Parnell, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:18 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

The woman was issued citations, according to police.
