The show, directed by Sam Gold, is based on Alison Bechdel’s Pulitzer Prize-finalist graphic memoir, which introduces Alison at three different ages as she explores her life growing up in the family’s small-town funeral home with her uniquely dysfunctional relatives. The musical features a book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and music by Jeanine Tesori.
Northwestern graduate Kate Shindle, a former Miss America (representing Illinois) and the current president of Actor’s Equity, will star as Alison, with Abby Corrigan and Alessandra Baldacchino playing younger versions the character.
