A 12-year-old boy is facing an aggravated assault charge for allegedly swinging a knife during a fight involving two other boys last week in northwest suburban Woodstock.

On Aug. 10th, Woodstock police were notified of a fight that had occurred earlier in the day at the Olson Play Park at 1101 Clay St., according to a statement from the department.

Police were shown a cell phone video of an altercation between three boys, one of whom was sitting on top of another to hold him down, a statement from police said.

“A different male subject then became involved and started swinging a knife at the male who was on top,” police said.

No one was stabbed and no injuries were reported, police said. The boys eventually stopped fighting and left.

Police identified the boy with the knife as a 12-year-old, who was charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated assault. He was turned over to his guardians and will appear in juvenile court at a later date.

Police said the other two boys will likely not face charges.
