Police in north suburban Glenview issued an alert after a man tried to lure several children into his car Sunday evening.

About 6:10 p.m., a man drove up to five children who were playing in a front yard in the 1400 block of Woodlawn Road, police said. The man, thought to be between 50 and 55 years old, stopped in front of the home and asked the children: “Do any of you want to get in my car and drive around town?”

He then drove off westbound on Waukegan Road after one of the children said no and ran away, police said.

He was described as a balding white man with a salt-and-pepper beard, police said. He also wore glasses. The vehicle was described as an older model gray or silver sedan with rust on the sides and bottom.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call police at (847) 901-6055.
