A board member of the south suburban Harvey School District charged with sexually assaulting a woman last week in the city’s municipal center has been ordered held on a $50,000 bond.

Tyrone Rogers, 59, faces one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. On Tuesday, Circuit Judge Tommy Brewer ordered him held at Cook County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

About 1 p.m. Friday, a 49-year-old woman went to the Harvey Municipal Center at 15320 Broadway Ave. to meet with Rogers to “discuss a village issue with Rogers on behalf of a friend,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman “alleged that Rogers took her into an office inside the municipal center, locked the door an sexually assaulted her,” the sheriff’s office said.

Rogers was taken into police custody Saturday night, police said.

The school board member has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, Harvey city spokesman Sean Howard said in a statement Monday night.

“Since the inception of this investigation the city of Harvey has fully cooperated with the Cook County sheriff’s police,” Howard said. “The same will be granted to the Cook County state’s attorney in their efforts to prosecute the case.”

Rogers, who lives in the 14500 block of Harvey Avenue in Harvey, is due back in court on Sept. 19, court records show.
