A man was fatally shot Tuesday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Anthony D. Henry, 31, was standing with a group of people at 10:12 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Carpenter when someone walked up and began shooting, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Henry, who lived in the neighborhood, was struck in the back and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
