A 24-year-old woman was wounded Thursday afternoon in a shooting in the North Side Sheffield Neighbors neighborhood.

At 1:26 p.m., she was inside an apartment in the 2300 block of North Ashland when a male pulled out a handgun, which accidentally discharged, according to Chicago Police.

The woman was shot in the hip and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody Thursday as Area Central detectives investigated the shooting.
