A 16-year-old girl was killed in a rollover crash Tuesday evening near southwest suburban Plainfield in Kendall County.

Emergency crews were called just before 5 p.m. to a crash in which a vehicle hit a utility pole on Walker Road, just east of Arbeiter Road in unincorporated Plainfield, the Kendall County sheriff’s office said.

Deputies found the driver, a 16-year-old girl, being treated by paramedics, police said.

Alyssa L. Smith, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where she was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m., the Will County coroner’s office said. She lived in Plainfield Township.

The Kendall County sheriff’s office is investigating the crash with assistance from Illinois State Police.
