A Florida man has been charged with burglarizing a home Saturday morning in west suburban unincorporated Downers Grove.

Aldo Parrado Vega, 33, faces one count of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, as well as one count each of attempted residential burglary and possession of a controlled substance, according to the DuPage County sheriff’s office. He also had an active warrant for his arrest out of Florida.

Deputies responded about 11:20 a.m. Saturday to a report of a person burglarizing vehicles, and possibly a home, in the area of Sterling Road and 37th Street, police said. Deputies set up a perimeter in the area and Parrado Vega was taken into custody just over an hour later.

Parrado Vega, of Key West, Florida, is being held at the DuPage County Jail and will next appear in court at 8 a.m. Monday, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
