A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death during an argument early Saturday in northwest Indiana.
Officers were called for reports of the stabbing about 1:40 a.m. in the 6000 block of Hohman Avenue in Hammond, Indiana, according to a statement from Hammond police. They arrived to find Xavier Curtis bleeding on the ground with several people standing around him.
Curtis, who lived in Hammond, had been stabbed by someone he knew, 19-year-old Leterr Levert Petty, “because of an argument over moving out of the apartment and getting a job,” police said.
He was taken to Franciscan Health in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m. from multiple stab wounds, according to police and the Lake County coroner’s office.
Petty, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, batter by means of a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, police said.
