A 29-year-old man was shot during a robbery Monday afternoon in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the South Side.

He was shot during a robbery about 1:20 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Kenwood, according to Chicago Police.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left leg and was taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Police initially said he had died.
