A woman died Saturday afternoon along the shore of the Kankakee River in southwest suburban Wilmington.

About 11:20 a.m., Illinois State Police officials responded to a report of a female body in the water, according to a statement from ISP.

The body was located by a homeowner near the rear of a home in the area of the 29000 block of Redman Road in Wilmington, ISP said.

The woman was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. at the shoreline, according to the Will County coroner’s office.

Her name was being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family, according the coroner’s office.

An autopsy Monday did not reveal a conclusive cause of death, which will be determined at a later date pending toxicological and police reports.

State police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the young woman, described as a light-skinned female in her late teens or early 20s, about 5-feet tall and 102 pounds with red and brown hair, brown eyes, two piercings in her right ear and one piercing in her left ear, ISP said. She was wearing a black, one-piece Forever 21 bodysuit with a chest zipper, size small.

The incident remains under investigation, ISP said. No further information is currently available.
