The Chicago Wolves will play the Ontario Reign in their home opener for the 2017-18 season on Saturday, Oct. 14, the AHL announced Monday.

The full 76-game schedule, released Tuesday, features four new opponents and the team’s first trip to California in 18 years. The Wolves open the season on Friday, Oct. 6, when they visit the Texas Stars, and play 20 games against Pacific Division opponents, including a trip to San Diego on Jan. 10. This will be the first time the Wolves travel to California since they won the Turner Cup Western Conference Semifinal series against the Long Beach Ice Dogs in 2000.

The Wolves play 56 games against six Central Division opponents, the first one being against the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, Oct. 28. A large portion of the Wolves’ home games this year will again be on the weekend, including 17 games on Saturday nights and 10 games on Sunday afternoons.

The Wolves are coming off a successful 2016-17 season in which they finished first in the Central Division with a 44-19 record and 101 points before they lost in the second round of the AHL playoffs.
