A 17-year-old girl was found shot to death late Wednesday in northwest Indiana.

About 11:45 p.m., officers responded to shots fired inside the Saxony Townhomes in the 7400 block of Chestnut Avenue in Hammond and found Chloe Bell inside with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Hammond police.

Bell, who lived on the same block, was pronounced dead at Community Hospital in Munster at 12:21 a.m., according to police and the Lake County coroner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide.

“We have no additional information at this time but will keep everyone updated as the case unfolds,” police said.
