One man was killed and another was wounded in an Austin neighborhood shooting Tuesday night on the West Side.

About 8:15 p.m., someone fired shots from a vehicle in the 1600 block of North Major, according to Chicago Police.

Tyrone Burdine, 56, was standing in front of a home at the time and was struck in the head by a stray bullet, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Burdine, who lives in the neighborhood, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 12:43 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. He was not thought to be an intended target of the shooting.

A 19-year-old man walking on the street was shot in the back, police said. He was also taken to Loyola, where he was listed in serious condition.
