A man was shot to death early Wednesday during a fight in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

James Posey, 21, was shot in the head at 5:17 p.m. in the 5200 block of West Gladys when another male pulled out a gun and fired shots during a confrontation, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Posey was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He lived in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

No one was in custody Thursday as Area North detectives conducted a homicide investigation.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
